Our Mission, Vision and Values

The LifeBridge Physician Network is a physician-governed voluntary association of employed and independent clinicians seeking to improve relationships with fellow physicians, patients, payers and LifeBridge Health in achieving the “triple aim” of the improvement in care for patients and the health of populations while decreasing the resources needed to achieve both. The LifeBridge Physician Network promotes clinical integration and improves care quality and efficiency by establishing standards for quality, access, service, peer relationships and resource stewardship, and holds all associates accountable for the achievement of those standards.

By actively managing to its established standards, the LifeBridge Physician Network strives to achieve the triple aim of improving care for individuals, advancing the health of populations and reducing the costs of care for the patients served by LBPN members in conjunction with LifeBridge Health.

We seek to better organize clinicians to achieve the care quality they, their patients and their insurers desire and require.

We seek to better position our clinicians and LifeBridge Health to compete effectively in the health care marketplace. We strive to be seen as providing the best value for health care in greater Baltimore.

Our Picture For the Future

The LifeBridge Physician Network (LBPN) welcomes independent and employed clinicians credentialed by LifeBridge Health (LBH) who are committed to operating within a clinically integrated system of care. LBPN facilitates clinical care integration for the patients served by its members without interfering in the economic relationships among and between clinicians, their practices and LifeBridge Health. LBPN maintains its integrity and focus through a series of actively-managed compacts among its members, its leadership and with LifeBridge Health.

Participating clinicians agree to support clinical practice standards, care processes, and outcomes recommended by committees of peers and endorsed by its elected governing body. The governing body, in turn, establishes and holds members accountable for achieving these standards. The governing body is also accountable for determining the distribution model for incentive or reward compensation to clinician members generated as a result of new reimbursement models.

The governing body has fiduciary responsibility for LBPN and is responsible for making decisions affecting LBPN’s membership. It comprises clinicians who bring broad-based perspectives from within the LBH community. Officers are elected by the governing body; the elected president presides at all governing body and membership meetings, and serves as an active member of LifeBridge Health’s executive leadership team. The governing body appoints members to standing and ad hoc clinical, operations and policy committees that make recommendations to the governing body in collaboration with LBH leadership.

LBPN invites its members to actively contribute to the design and delivery of care, and members commit to preferentially utilize LBPN members in the care of patients when feasible.

The LBPN governing body is supported by a management team consisting of an administrative director and one or more analysts who are tasked with designing and implementing processes to measure and monitor individual and collective performance. Performance metrics are shared with all members on a regular basis. Those individuals failing to achieve established standards will be offered improvement assistance. Those practices consistently failing to achieve established standards after reasonable improvement assistance has been offered will be required to forfeit membership in LBPN. By operating in this manner, the LifeBridge Physician Network and its members will contribute to improvement in the care of individual patients; improvement in the health of defined populations; and improvement in resource utilization for the population of patients served by its members.
